About Commonwealth of Pennsylvania
The Pennsylvania Department of Community and Economic Development (DCED) is the state agency responsible for fostering opportunities for businesses to grow and for communities to succeed and thrive in a global economy. Its mission is to improve the quality of life for Pennsylvania citizens while assuring transparency and accountability in the expenditure of public funds. DCED works across a diverse mix of industry clusters, driving innovation, cultivating a resilient economy, and investing in people and communities. The department is led by Secretary Rick Siger, who oversees initiatives such as Pennsylvania's Ten-Year Economic Development Strategy and the first-ever Pennsylvania Housing Action Plan.
As of July 2026, DCED continues to implement major economic development initiatives under Governor Josh Shapiro's administration. Recent activities include investing over $1.6 million through the Solar for Schools Grant Program, announcing nearly $445 million in Redevelopment Assistance Capital Program (RACP) projects across the Commonwealth, and launching the Pennsylvania Housing Action Plan. The department also supports business expansion and relocation, workforce development, technology innovation, and community revitalization through various programs and funding opportunities.
