Job Description

The 628 Force Support Squadron at Joint Base Charleston is hiring a Custodial Worker to maintain the Redbank Golf Course located on the Naval Weapons Station in Goose Creek, South Carolina.

This is a Nonappropriated Fund (NAF) position supporting Morale, Welfare and Recreation (MWR) activities for the Air Force and Space Force. The role is intermittent, meaning no guaranteed hours, but you could work anywhere from 0 to 40 hours per week depending on mission and programming requirements.

This position is ideal for individuals who prefer flexible scheduling and are comfortable with physical cleaning work in a golf course environment.

Salary & Compensation

Salary: $18.23 per hour.

Qualification

This position is open to everyone. Applicants will be categorized by preference and priority consideration eligibilities. Qualifying experience includes skill in using cleaning and sanitizing solutions and the ability to plan and sequence cleaning tasks.

  • Eligibility categories include Business Based Action, Military Spouse Preference, Outside Applicant Veteran, Spouse/Widow/Parent of Veteran, and Transition Hiring Preference.
  • Must have skill in the proper use of cleaning and sanitizing solutions.
  • Must be able to plan, coordinate, and time sequence steps to meet work assignment deadlines.
  • Must be able to clean and make adjustments to powered cleaning equipment.
  • Must be able to perform the full range of cleaning duties (sweeping, mopping, waxing, dusting, etc.).
  • Must be able to follow oral and/or written instructions involving several distinct tasks or steps.
  • Must be physically able to occasionally lift and carry objects weighing 20 pounds or more.
  • Must be able to continuously stand, bend, stoop, and reach for long periods.
  • Must satisfactorily complete a pre-employment physical and obtain a Food Handler's Certificate.

Duties & Responsibilities

  • Maintain the golf facility in an orderly and clean manner.
  • Vacuum clean rugs and draperies.
  • Sweep, mop, strip, scrub, wax, and polish floors using industrial power equipment.
  • Adjust and change buffers, brushes, and other attachments on power equipment.
  • Dust, wax, and polish furniture; dust ledges and woodwork.
  • Empty ashtrays and wastebaskets; polish door knobs and other metal fixtures.
  • Clean glass partitions, inside and outside windows using stepladders and extension ladders.
  • Maintain restrooms in clean, orderly, and sanitary condition; clean, disinfect, and deodorize lavatories, urinals, and toilet bowls.
  • Clean mirrors and water fountains; replace deodorizers, toilet tissue, hand towels, and soap.
  • Report all safety violations to the immediate supervisor.

Conditions & Requirements

  • Must complete a background investigation (Tier-1) with favorable results.
  • U.S. Citizens and Non-U.S. Nationals must have resided in the U.S. Territory for three or more consecutive years immediately preceding Federal affiliation.
  • Must complete a favorable pre-employment physical.
  • Must be able to obtain a Food Handler's Certificate.
  • May require shift work to provide coverage on evenings, weekends, holidays, or special situations.
  • Male applicants born after December 31, 1959 must be registered for Selective Service.
  • Direct deposit is required.
  • Must satisfactorily complete an employment verification (E-Verify) check.
  • A probationary period may be required.
  • Payment of Permanent Change of Station (PCS) costs is not authorized.
